St Andre Weather Page & Flying Links

ALWAYS CHECK THE FORECAST!

For hiking and biking I find the Meteoblue site quite reliable. The where2go page is good if you are trying to get the best of a poor day.

Below are some links I recommend particulalrly for pilots and their pre flight planning,

Essentially I want to know what the general forecast is for the day and in particular

  • Wind direction and strength
  • Cloudbase and cloud cover (sunshine)
  • Adverse conditions - stronger winds developing or over-development

I find the top three links quite reliable; Meteoblue, Meteo-Parapente and the Balise on Chalvet. The later being useful to determine if the days forecast is anything like the current conditions. It also helps to decide what time and what launch to go to.

There are some other useful weather links also included.

Don't forget the FFVL NOTAM link to check if there is any military activity planned (rarely).

XContest and FFVL C.F.D are useful training aids to see what other people have managed on the same day. Dont forget to upload your own flights :-) Bon Vol.
